Patterns of trade and investment across borders have been under pressure in the previous decade due to economic, social and technological developments. In the last two years, disruptions due to the Covid pandemic, the Suez Canal obstruction, port delays, shortages of key inputs and other supply chain shocks have put further pressure on globalisation. Looking ahead, new economic, political and geopolitical developments will add turbulence and unpredictability. What major forces will shape globalization in the future? What are the implications for policy and institutional changes at the global level, and how will EBRD countries be impacted? A panel of prominent academic, policy and business experts will explore the significance of these issues for the EBRD, its clients and its countries of operations.
Moderator: Jonathan Charles, Managing Director of Communications, EBRD
Speakers:
• Beata Javorcik, Chief Economist, EBRD
• Martin Wolf, Chief Economics Commentator, Financial Times Confirmed – virtually
