The fourth CINTRAN capacity building event for the coal+ regions provided an expert overview of the inventory of coping strategies and what it means for communities and governments. The event was aimed at practitioners across the coal+ regions in Europe.
Within this interactive webinar, participants got an expert overview of the inventory of coping strategies and what it means for numerous European coal+ regions. After a keynote speech by Marie Claire Brisbois (University of Sussex), the three panelists reflected on their own experiences in Estonia, Slovakia, and Germany bottom-up resistance towards top-down initiatives can both delay or enhance the energy transition. The idea is to understand better how coal+ regions’ governments steer the way through the just transition, and how such decisions can both affect their communities and provide opportunities to shape of their own transition.
