Climate Neutral Just Transition Group Financing the Green and Just Transition

While the European Union continues to highlight the need to transition to a climate neutral society, cities struggle to finance the measures to be implemented. This situation has been aggravated by the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which has created an energy crisis that is not only jeopardising our efforts of becoming climate neutral, but also increasing the inequalities in our cities.

In this line, Eurocities has created a Climate Neutral and Just Transition Group that will aim at providing a space for discussion and exchange to our cities. The goal is for municipalities to be able to express the main concerns and challenges they are facing and find solutions through dialogue. From Eurocities, we will also invite different guest speakers every session that will be able to provide some insights and advise on how to best tackle the challenges.

After having launched a survey to better understand the needs of our members, the first session will be devoted to understanding the different options to finance a green and just transition.
