There cannot be smart cities without smart ports, which hold the promise of increased efficiency and productivity. At Smart City Expo World Congress 2021, the Port of Barcelona underlined, through the “Smart Ports: Piers of the Future” program, that implementing automated processes not only benefits the port but the wider supply chain. “Smart city is crucial for innovating in ports. So being here, not only from a maritime or a port perspective but from a broad perspective of what innovation is crucial for us.
