The Russian war against Ukraine requires Europe to continue working on deploying renewable energies, ensuring the security of energy supplies, and looking at the interdependencies between the Member States across the industrial supply chains. On 18 May 2022, the European Commission presented a detailed action plan to update the “REPowerEU” communication. This plan seeks to accelerate the deployment of renewable energies in the European Union, provide companies and households with affordable, secure, and clean energy by diversifying gas supplies, and replace gas in heating and power generation.
In this context, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform, on behalf of the European Commission, DG GROW, organised the EU Clusters Talk “REPowerEU: Energy solutions and industrial competitiveness, part 2, on 25 May 2022, to speak about the detailed action plan to put REPowerEU into practice. The Talk included discussions with clusters and industry representatives about energy dependencies and plans to ensure supplies, and explored solutions to the possible bottlenecks. We additionally looked at hydrogen as a (future) energy source.
