The phenomenon of empty or underused buildings largely differs from a country to another. Whether it is a residential or commercial vacancy, a public or private ownership, the emptiness can turn into a spiraling urban decline. Following a more sustainable city model, the reactivation of vacant spaces is a promising lever to limit urban sprawl and revitalise a neighbourhood.
