All countries will have to go through a rapid transition from fossil fuels to clean energy sources in order to fend off global climate change. Kosovo offers a particularly interesting investment opportunity as the Government is about to launch an ambitious energy strategy for a transition straight from coal to renewable energy. With no gas infrastructure to start with, Kosovo aims to rely on modern technology for energy storage and international connectors to secure the balance between demand and the varying electricity production from solar and wind power.
This session will set out the opportunities that such a transition can create for investors ranging from classic solar and wind farms to cutting-edge solutions like grid-scale batteries, solar heat storage etc.
Participants:
Harry Boyd-Carpenter – Managing Director, Climate Strategy & Delivery, EBRD
Jens Lundsgaard (Moderator) – Board Director for Denmark, Lithuania, Ireland and Kosovo, EBRD
Hekuran Murati – Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Government of Kosovo
Artane Rizvanolli – Minister of Economy, Government of Kosovo
