City decision makers are key to the success of local led initiatives. This panel will explore the important role of politicians in European Territorial Cooperation programmes like URBACT. It will include presentations from senior political figures from some of the most active and successful URBACT cities. Ricardo Rio (Mayor of Braga, Portugal), Tjaša Ficko (Deputy Mayor of Ljubjlana, Slovenia), Jordi Mazón (Deputy Mayor for Ecological Transition, Mobility and Waste Collection in Viladecáns, Spain) and Rebeka Szabó (Deputy Mayor of Zugló – 14th district of Budapest, Hungary) shared their views on how a programme like URBACT can improve local democracy and open doors to new experiences.
