Accessible and inclusive places are central to liveable cities and sustainable mobility. In recent years planning concepts have been developed to improve citizens’ access to amenities that matter to them. Several such concepts have been acclaimed internationally, like the Piazze Aperte in Milan or the 15mn-city in Paris. The implementation of these concepts has been mostly focused on city centres so far, and their extension to wider agglomerations deserves special attention.
In this Mobility Talk, experts will discuss solutions to make cities and agglomerations more liveable thanks to citizen-centered planning focused on proximity and fostering active mobility. From social justice to convergence in citizens’ preferences, this Talk will touch upon key elements of the upcoming EIT Urban Mobility study on mobility and accessibility.
